Witness to a Century

Leica Camera

Leica Camera celebrates a momentous milestone in the world of photography: a century since the introduction of the first mass-produced Leica camera. On March 1, 1925, the Leica I was unveiled to the public at the Leipzig Spring Fair. With its sleek, compact design, it forever transformed the landscape of photography, allowing us to capture moments in ways once unimaginable.

As we commemorate this extraordinary anniversary, Leica Camera honors the visionary spirit of Ernst Leitz II, the bold entrepreneur whose decision to mass-produce the Leica camera laid the foundation for 35mm photography. This centennial is not just a reflection on the past, but a glimpse into the limitless future of photography—a tribute to both its legacy and the ever-evolving art of capturing life through the lens.
