Website Associate
SNAPSHOT

12 month Contract – Part Time

Hourly Rate: $25-$30/hr depending on experience and scope of work.

 

Start Date: June 14, 2021

End Date: June 1, 2022 with an option to renew for another year.

 

 

ESTIMATED HOURS

June: approx. 20 hours per month

July: approx. 20 hours per month

August: approx. 80 hours (roughly 15-18 hours a week)

September: approx. 50 hours per month 

October: approx. 20 hours per month

December: approx. 14 hours per month

January – June 2022 – as needed / between 8 – 20 hours per month)

 

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Photoville Festival Website Associate is a part-time position within United Photo Industries (d.b.a Photoville) working remotely, as mutually agreed to via contract, and will be responsible for managing the annual New York City festival website, inputting exhibition, programming and partner information on the website, strategizing with the Photoville team about the user experience, maintaining the site during the festival period (September 17 – December 1, 2021) and archiving the annual programming pages once the 10th edition has been completed (December 2021)

 

The ideal candidate will be living in New York and is welcome to work remotely or at the Photoville office in Brooklyn. The candidate would have to know how to work independently and be excited to bring new ideas to the table while maintaining the festival website for the next 6 months. The position will be contracted on a yearly basis and after the first 12 months, an hourly pay increase and scope of work can be negotiated in good faith.

 

Schedule will vary month to month and exact days and times will be negotiated in advance and in good faith with the Photoville Leadership.

 

This is a part-time position and the ideal candidate would be available to work the hours they need to in order to successfully prioritize, implement, and complete Photoville Festival tasks in addition to any other work commitments.

 

The Festival Website Associate reports directly to the Executive Director and Creative Director of Photoville  and will be working with the rest of the Photoville team throughout the contracted term.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • WordPress administration, including WP, theme and plugin updates
  • Populating content, creating and updating pages
  • Modifying layouts and styling as needed using CSS and HTML
  • Image optimization for web
  • Speed optimization and SEO management
  • Monitoring web analytics
  • Troubleshooting and debugging
  • Documenting website workflow processes & instructions
  • Implementation of accessibility requirements with Photoville’s Creative Director

 

 

SKILLS REQUIRED
  • 3+ years experience with WordPress
  • Proficiency with CSS and HTML 
  • Familiarity with WP Bakery builder (formerly Visual Composer) 
  • Experience using browser developer tools
  • Understanding of responsive design and UX principles 
  • Proactive and efficient
  • The ability to work within tight deadlines 
  • Collaborative team member
  • Creative problem-solver/solution-finder
  • Great sense of humor and be ok with having a dog in the office, if working from the Photoville HQ in Brooklyn
