Photoville Goes To
The Triennial Of Photography Hamburg

Various Artists

We are truly excited to announce that as part of our flourishing relationship with the Triennial of Photography Hamburg, per our announcement last year at Photoville 2014, we have been offered the opportunity to present numerous exhibitions of contemporary American Photography, first exhibited at Photoville 2014 — as part of the 2015 Triennial. Inspired by Photoville, a container city with exhibitions and night-time multimedia projections will be created for the first time in Hamburg on Deichtorplatz. As the festival’s main international partner, Photoville forms a major part, with seven exhibitions and an outdoor installation within the container city.

The Homecoming Project and Fovea Exhibitions: War & Memory
Featuring Cynthia Bittenfield, Ashley Gilbertson, Michael Kamber, Ed Kashi, Gina LeVay, Andrew Lichtenstein, Brandon Thibodeaux, Erin Grace Trieb Peter Van Agtmael, Craig F. Walker, Damon Winter Military, Veteran and Family Member Contributors

Chris Bartlett: Iraqi Detainees: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Ordeals

NOOR: ZA’ATARI
Featuring Nina Berman, Andrea Bruce, Alixandra Fazzina, and Stanley Greene

Lindsay Morris: You are You

Stefan Falke: La Frontera

Hector Rene Membreno-Canales: Hegemony Or Survival

Restless Collective: The Geography of Youth
Featuring Morrigan McCarthy, Alan Winslow

In addition to the exhibitions, on the occasion of the Triennial’s Opening Night on June 18, we are proud to be presenting another international screening of We Live in Brooklyn, Baby — a beautiful ode to photographers and communities across Brooklyn as envisioned by Jamel Shabazz. We feel that this is the perfect venue to do justice to the work and the spirt of the project — and bring a taste of Brooklyn to a whole new audience!

About the Triennial of Photography Hamburg

Since 1999, the international photofestival Triennial of Photography Hamburg dedicates itself to examining current themes within the professional discourse of photography. Through exhibitions, lectures, films, projections and meetings in a single, central location, the aim is to inspire a culturally aware audience for contemporary as well as historic photography. The Photo Festival results from an initiative spearheaded by photographer and photo collector FC Gundlach and will take place for the sixth time in June 2015.

The theme of this year’s festival — “THE DAY WILL COME” — deals with the future of photography in both a technical and aesthetical sense, and will build a bridge to the future through interdisciplinary collaboration between curators, artists, sociologists and futurologists. Hamburg’s premier art institutions will interpret this futuristic theme through exhibitions by photo artists of international standing. In addition, special exhibitions and an extensive program of events will round out the festival. For further information, please visit: www.phototriennale.de)
