In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Photoville is continuing to adjust to this new reality with creativity and flexibility. We are proud to announce that this year’s Photoville Festival will return for our ninth year in the fall, although it will look significantly different than years past.

We are working closely with our partners at Brooklyn Bridge Park and across the city to develop and implement new platforms to safely and thoughtfully connect photographers and their visual stories to a wide and diverse audience.

Rolling out this fall, Photoville will combine online gatherings and dispersed outdoor public exhibitions. Exact dates, programming & locations to be announced this summer.

Our talks, workshops, and community events will take place online. Working with the parks and city officials, we plan to safely install exhibition banners throughout parks and public spaces in NYC that will remain on view for several months so that more communities can enjoy them while using these open spaces as a place to recharge, exercise, and relax.

Even though there will be no in-person event gatherings or container exhibitions this year, we are confident that adapting the festival format will allow our audiences to safely enjoy all of our exhibitions and programming, while continuing to meet the needs of our local and global photo communities.

Our call for proposals has been extended through May 31. No matter the format, great ideas and compelling visual stories are what make the festival — so NOW is the time to send us your ideas.

We are currently fundraising to make sure we support and elevate visual storytellers and photojournalists who live locally and work abroad and welcome donations and partnership inquiries to make sure that important stories are accessible and free for everyone.

We are committed to building our hybrid photo village together, as a space for important visual stories to be seen and heard, as we need this more than ever, and we are excited for the possibilities to deepen connections between our New York City and global audience.

We look forward to connecting and sharing with all of you.
