Perspectives

Jamel Shabazz

Perspectives is an ideal born out of using the global language of photography to address social and political issues that are relevant to each participating photographer. The object of the exhibition is to provoke thought, while creating a space where artists can come together in the spirit of unity, and a common love for photography.

About the photographers

The photographers in this exhibition come from various walks of life: one is a U.S. Army veteran who served two combat tours in Iraq and uses photography to ease his personal struggle with post traumatic stress, another is a formerly incarcerated prisoner who taught himself photography while he was confined in a federal prison, and another is an active duty police officer from Oakland, California, who has a passion for image making; he uses his lens to document humanity.

All of the photographers in this exhibition are dedicated to their craft and they are active on social media, which they use as a platform to share their vision with a global audience.
