Greetings DUMBO!

Hard to believe it’s already been four years since we unveiled “(super)HEROES” at this very spot, and in that time, countless visitors from all walks of life were able to step into so many visual worlds: hard working immigrants in New York City; fantasy role-plays in China; indigenous people in Guatemala reimagining what it means to be a superhero; a middle aged Wonderwoman trying to stay youthful and make ends meet; Captain America washing his car.

Two years went by, and “(super)Heroes” made way for “Personal Mythologies”. Sometimes whimsical and sometimes dark, these artists’ tales built on mythological motifs welcomed visitors on a voyage through childhood dreams and fears, unbridled imagination, and the artists’ abilities to see the world not as it is, but as it could — and perhaps should — be.

But here we are, dear friends, in the summer of 2016 and it’s time for a change; time for new experiences and new adventures. Time to share new stories, while we continue to explore the depths of the photographer’s imagination. Working once again in partnership with the DUMBO BID and the NYC Department of Transportation, we are excited to share with you work by seven talented visual artists, whose photographic practices revolve around the physical construction of fictional landscapes.
