Photoville Talks Producer – Amy Wolff
For the first time in our 6 year history, we’ve had the opportunity to film the amazing talks that took place at St. Ann’s Warehouse during Photoville 2017, thanks to the generous support of our partners at PhotoWings. The team at PhotoWings have a great track record of documenting powerful panels, events and artist talks and making them free to the masses, so it was a natural fit to collaborate with them on creating this educational resource.
As a special holiday treat, we would like to share with you two of these thought-provoking, brilliant conversations, and the rest of the talks in partnership with our friends at Photoshelter, Leica, The Pulitzer Center, Reading the Pictures and many more, will be released gradually over the coming months, starting in the new year. Click here to visit PhotoWings and learn more about our collaboration, and here to learn more about our Photoville Talks.
Featuring Laura Beltrán Villamizar, Shahidul Alam, Brent Lewis, Austin Merrill, Daniella Zalcman, Tara Pixley
A panel discussion with the founding members of RECLAIM: an alliance of The Everyday Projects, Native Agency, Majority World, Women Photograph, and Diversify Photo – five organizations committed to amplifying the voices of underrepresented photographers and decolonizing the photojournalism industry.
Presented in partnership with The Ground Truth Project and featuring Laura Heaton, Nichole Sobecki, and Charlie Sennott
This conversation explores how the major challenges of our time — migration, extremism, conflict over dwindling natural resources — have roots in climate change. From Afghanistan to Colombia and Somalia, environmental changes have dire implications for security and are harbingers of global risks to come. What’s being done to address these concerns? What more can be done? How can visual storytelling help?
STAY TUNED FOR MORE ENGAGING CONVERSATIONS FROM OUR PHOTOVILLE COMMUNITY IN THE NEW YEAR!
