This exhibit aims to introduce Korean photography past and present. The exhibition will consist of four parts: portrait, cityscape, landscape, and still-life. These are the same sections addressed in Sensation Photography magazine, in order to put the magazine within the historical context of Korean photography.

Sensation Photography is a photo magazine that introduces the unknown work of well-known photographers. Sensation Photography focuses on the work that photographers love rather than the work that is popular with the public. Five to seven photographers are cast per issue. Sensation Photography contains ‘Sure and Pure’ which means off-frame is unique. Each photographer selects images and organizes their presentation, making it important to understand the photographers’ artistic viewpoint. Sensation Photography consists of several sections, which go beyond the images: the image-making process, theme, technique and style, and the photographers’ personal world.

ARTIST BIO

Twenty photographers, who participate in the Photoville, were introduced to audiences via four issues of Sensation Photography themed portrait, cityscape, landscape and still-life & making photo respectively. The photographers are all based in South Korea and most of them were invited to domestic and foreign group exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions more than three times since they have started their career. They have been building up the world of their own work, also they are recognised as representative photographers in Korean photography.
Jin Hee Bae, Jaegu Kang, Jiwon Kim, and Jae-kwang Yang are working about Korean portrait. Sung Yong Kim, Jong Hyeon Baek, Ik Jae Lee, Jae Hoon Lee, Wonchul Lee, and Hongkyu Yang have taken Seoul and other old town as a cityscape. Hyong-ryol Bak, Eun-jong Lee, Gun Young Lee, Hyung-geun Park, and Do Yang Zu have shown different type of landscape compared with typical Korean landscape. Photographs of Hyun Mok Jung, Gyoosik Kim, Jee Won Kim, and Yong Hoon Kim are still-life of everyday life in contemporary South Korea.
