While there has been more movement toward common sense gun reform in recent months than any other time in recent memory, real and sustained change will only come when more and more people — not just those personally affected by gun violence — stand up and say “Enough. We don’t have to live like this anymore.”

Over the past few years, I’ve been traveling the country to tell a diverse story about the impact of gun violence on injured survivors, victims’ family members, and witnesses to these horrific acts. I seek to show how gun violence doesn’t fit neatly into the “good guys vs. bad guys” narrative of the media and the NRA. Rather it is far more nuanced — made up overwhelmingly of incidents of suicide, domestic violence, children gaining access to unsecured guns, mass shootings and so much more.

Young, old, rich, poor, white, black, city dwellers, country farmers — this is a uniquely American epidemic that cuts across all boundaries, impacting us all. By shining an honest, respectful light on these stories and by allowing viewers to perhaps see their own families in others, I hope to inspire action leading to meaningful change.
